Providence Health & Services Supervisor Food Service in Mission Hills, California


Providence is calling a Supervisor Food Service (Full-time Variable Shift) to the Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, CA.

We are seeking a Supervisor Food Service who will supervise staff in the Food & Nutrition Services Department.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Prepare work schedules, assigns personnel, prepares timecards, evaluates work performance and initiates commendations and disciplinary documents Participate in the selection of new employees

  • Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, improving organization performance program and safety standards as mandated by JCAHO and regulatory agencies

  • Perform shift specific duties, including opening/closing checklists, controlling keys, handling cash, and securing work units against theft.

  • Coordinate loading, delivery, and pickup of food carts on schedule

  • Ensure timely and efficient meal service to all areas

  • Implement sanitation schedule and ensures food service employees comply to the schedule

  • Train, and orient new employees, completed on-the-job checklists, conduct weekly staff meetings, and coaches staff regularly

  • Maintain department records, reports, and files as required. Maintain accurate record keeping for employee timecards and attendance records

  • Direct maintenance of departmental facilities, equipment, supplies and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of patients and staff

  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.

  • Attend meetings as required, and participates on committees as directed


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Supervisory experience

  • At least 2 years experience in a supervisory capacity managing 6-10 employees

  • Customer service orientation/self starter/ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Must be able to operate all kitchen equipment

  • Must be computer literate

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Certificate in Dietary Manager's Program

  • Associate's Degree
