Providence Health & Services Special Procedures Nurse in Mission Hills, California
Providence is calling a Special Procedures Nurse (1.0 FTE / Day Shift) at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, CA.
We are seeking a RN Float CCU who will p erform a wide variety of nursing functions in the Special Procedures Lab. Demonstrates proficiency in delivering care to assigned age-specific patient population. Provide assistance to physicians in monitoring patients, and operates and maintains all equipment utilized in the CPL.
Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, improving organization performance program, safety, and infection control standards.
Provide direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
Monitor medical condition of patients and reports changes to appropriate personnel. Demonstrates sensitivity to patients' comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress.
Physicians/medical staff with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
Maintain\ a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards.
Assist attending physicians, patients, and families as needed in times of stress or crisis. Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
Ensure an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in service meetings, and workshops
Act as patient educator prior to procedure to explain procedure and answer question explains steps during the actual procedure.
Assist physician in administering medicines as required.
Prepare, hang, monitor and discontinue I.V. fluids
Cooperate with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives, and infection control policies.
Check prescription, diagnosis, chart, patient identification, etc.
Prioritize work and provides prompt and efficient service.
Keep a log of all patients tested.
Set up, operate, and maintain the physiological pressure monitoring devices necessary for the duration of the surgical procedure.
Prepare rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment; cleans rooms between procedures.
Drape patients for surgical procedures.
Attend meetings as required.
The following job accountabilities may be reassigned:
•Assists in inventory control and ordering supplies.
Develops film through automatic processing.
Opens sterile supplies and sets up for procedures
Required qualifications for this position include:
Sufficient clinical experience in medical and surgical nursing
BLS for Healthcare Providers sponsored by the American Heart Association. NOTE: If employee/applicant has certification by the American Red Cross-CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, this will be accepted until card expiration date.
California Licensed Registered Nurse
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
1 year special procedures lab experience
Critical care background
Sufficient clinical experience in critical care of progressive care
