Providence is calling a Senior Decision Support Analyst (Full-time/Day shift) to Providence Facey Medical Foundation in Mission Hills, CA.

We are seeking a Senior Decision Support Analyst who will provide leadership in the development and distribution of financial and operational management data and decision-making tools to the organization. Position will utilize combined application of business knowledge and advanced systems skills to perform and lead complex data-mining and analysis while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the data. Position will provide expertise and leadership in the determination of the most appropriate tool for the development and distribution of data. Position will seek to streamline and create reporting efficiencies within organization through use of various systems, software applications and web-based opportunities. Position may provide guidance and assistance to other analysts as required. This position will require greater analytical and communication abilities due to the more complicated nature of assignments. This position will also be expected to demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills via participation in work groups.

In this position you will:

  • Act as a resource regarding all aspects of decision support and reporting, performing job functions in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Deliver upon the service expectations of both our patients and fellow staff members by listening to their needs; engaging in positive interactions; and following through on promises made in a thoughtful, efficient, timely and courteous manner so that their total outcome is better than expected.

  • Respect the dignity, confidentiality and privacy of patients.

  • Work in a safe manner, adhering to general safety precautions and standards. Report any unsafe conditions to their supervisor and/or the safety hotline.

  • Work directly with the Managed Care / Utilization Management department to understand their operational requirements and create reports tailored to meet their needs.

  • Develop expertise in Managed Care / Utilization Management business processes and data.

  • Perform data mining, complex programming, and report generation functions.

  • Translate business requirements into analyses and reports using SQL, SSRS, and other software tools (e.g., MS Access, Excel) as needed to achieve analytic results defined in project plans.

  • Effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical staff; translate business needs into technical requirements and ensure that requirements conform to overall objectives and specifications.

  • Create new reports as required and automate distribution of current reports. Provide expertise and leadership in the determination of the most appropriate tool for the development and distribution of data.

  • Provide management with ad-hoc analysis to support decision making.

  • Analyze results and provide appropriate feedback to insure that the information being requested and provided make sense in the context of what is being asked

  • Seek, obtain, monitor, and analyze feedback from clients to improve systems, processes and reporting.

  • Responsible for managing assigned tasks and small projects and ensuring the quality of the deliverables.

  • Maintain client relationships through the delivery of high quality work.

  • Develop documentation to support ongoing maintenance and upkeep of reporting.

  • Provide guidance and assistance to other analysts as required.

  • Interact with users, management and staff to identify reporting needs.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to other staff as required.

  • Provide leadership in the design and development of reporting tools for other departments utilizing various systems and software applications, including Web programming software.

  • Perform complex queries, reports, and graphs in SQL, Excel and Access.

  • Maintain company intranet web pages.

  • Responsible for various monthly reports and other special projects.

  • Responsible for the maintenance and validation of Decision Support data warehouses.

  • Provide additional support for file transfers and encryption.

  • Creates analyses designed to enhance the timely sharing of meaningful performance information to the decision-makers. Goals: improved financial and/or operational performance such as improved productivity, enhanced utilization, and improved patient care/satisfaction.

  • Ability to multi-task, complete projects and meet deadlines.

  • Complete various special projects as assigned.

  • Establish new reporting relationships as the need arises.

  • Process Improvement and Interaction with Operations:

  • Continually suggest areas for reorganizing workflow to achieve economies of scale and efficiencies.

  • Interact with all operating departments so that appropriate information is shared and information can be provided to monitor performance and enhance results.

  • Anticipate and achieve problem solving for possible adverse circumstances or events.

  • Share financial/operational information as appropriate to all operating departments on a regular and open basis.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree -or- 5 or more years experience in the area of financial analysis and health care reporting in ambulatory health care setting

  • 3 years Information systems or database design experience

  • 5 years experience in reporting/analytics in healthcare industry

  • 5 years experience with Microsoft Reporting Services or similar reporting tools

  • Mathematical aptitude with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong project management skills

  • Proven ability to perform advance MS SQL programming (i.e. DTS/SSIS, stored procedures, triggers and functions), and report designing and developing using SQL and Crystal Reporting Tools

  • Working knowledge of PC applications for data analysis (specifically spreadsheet and database systems (MS Excel, MS Access and Crystal Reporting Tools)

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team and with users, management and staff

  • Proficient in the use of SSRS, SQL, Access, Excel

  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, clearly and concisely in Standard English to providers and staff from a wide variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds

  • Autonomous individual with mathematical aptitude and strong design, analytic, problem solving, and project management skills

  • Ability to manage assignments within tight deadlines

  • Ability to work effectively as a team player

  • Ability to adapt to a changing internal data environment

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Professional certification requiring formal education beyond a two year college
