Providence Health & Services Respiratory Therapist Subacute in Mission Hills, California
Providence is calling a Respiratory Therapist and Subacute (Full Time/Night Shift) to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, CA.
We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist and Subacute who will provide respiratory therapy to patient's as ordered by physicians in the subacute according to established standards and practices. Demonstrates proficiency in delivering care to age-specific patient population (e.g., adults, geriatrics), and participates in related continuing education.
In this position you will:
Communicate effectively in a clear, concise, understandable manner
Application and monitoring of medical gases and environmental control systems, mechanical ventilatory support, artificial airway care, bronchopulmonary hygiene, pharmacological agents, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation
Demonstrate the diagnostic and therapeutic use of the following: medical gases and administration apparatus, environmental control systems, humidification, aerosols, medications, ventilatory support, bronchopulmonary percussion and drainage, and airway suctioning, pulmonary rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, airway management
Employ specific testing techniques in respiratory care to assist in diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment. This shall be understood to include measurements: Ventilatory volumes, airway pressures, gas flows, other related physiologic monitoring
Collect and document essential data utilizing patient record, patient interview, physical assessment and lab values and therapy on appropriate forms and/or in computerized patient record
Initiate and maintain continuous mechanical ventilatory support utilizing essential data previously gathered.
Recommend ventilator strategies to help improve patient’s ventilatory status.
Assume responsibility for the prompt and/or routine execution of physicians’ orders relating to respiratory care.
Initiates and maintains continuous pulse oximetry, and oxygen therapy.
Administer medication to the respiratory tract, including: bronchodilators, decongestants, wetting agents, mucoidal emulsifying agents, steroids, antibiotics, surfactant and any other FDA approved drug for such application.
Initiate and maintain intermittent and continuous nebulized medication and humidity therapy.
Accurately document all interventions performed on patient in the hospital electronic medical record.
Clean, replace and replenish necessary equipment and supplies in any and all areas assigned during the shift, reporting the need to reorder supplies and/or equipment to manager, supervisor or team leader.
Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, improving organization performance program, infection control, and patient/customer safety standards.
Promote patient, physician, customer and employee satisfaction by personal example, treating all contacts with respect.
Support and participate in activities that foster customer service.
Communicate and follow the organizational chain of command for notification of patient care/service issues, when appropriate.
Maintain required applicable licensure, certification and education.
Attend and successfully complete general and department orientation, in-service programs and the annual key competencies and mandatory update requirements.
Participate actively in department staff meetings.
Demonstrate effective verbal and written communications.
Comply with the Medical Center’s policies and procedures
Demonstrate skill in the use of equipment including its capabilities, limitations and appropriate/special applications.
Ensure that the rights of all patients are respected and maintained by allowing for privacy, cultural diversity and dignity in the provision of care.
Demonstrate a positive professional image, performs responsibilities in a professional manner, demonstrates flexibility in the provision of patient care/service and utilizes a collaborative approach with co-workers.
Function as a team member, contributing to the smooth operations of the unit on a day to day basis, and for the patient’s and customers overall general welfare.

Demonstrate organizational skills including prioritization and time management
Utilize appropriate resources when indicated to resolve conflicts, solve problems and achieve goals.
Identify and communicate opportunities to improve care or service.

Seek and utilize new approaches to problem solving, reaching goals and/or new programs.
Ensure human and material resources of the organization are used responsibly and in accordance with hospital policy.
Identifie cost saving strategies appropriate to the department.
Pulmonary diagnostics to included ABG certification and quality control.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduate of a program for Respiratory Therapy
CRT and/or RRT
Licensed in Respiratory Care in the State of California.
Current BLS-HCP – Basic Life Support - for Healthcare Providers American Heart Association (AHA).
Current LA City Fire Card within 90 days of hire.
Good verbal and communication skills.
Knowledge of tests, therapeutics, disease processes and medical terminology.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Membership in a professional organization: CSRC, AARC.
Six months Work experience
