Providence Health & Services Project Manager - Managed Care Finance in Mission Hills, California


Providence is calling a Project Manager (Managed Care Finance) to our Facey Jade Admin Building location in Mission Hills, CA.

In this position you will:

  • Delivers upon the service expectations of both our patients and fellow staff members by listening to their needs; engaging in positive interactions; and following through on promises made in a thoughtful, efficient, timely and courteous manner so that their total outcome is better than expected.

  • Respects the dignity, confidentiality and privacy of patients.

  • Works in a safe manner, adhering to general safety precautions and standards.

  • Reports any unsafe conditions to their supervisor and/or the safety hotline.

  • Act as a project management and process improvement resource to Regional Director and Regional Manager of Managed Care Finance.Manages and reports on all phases of department initiatives, including but not limited to:

  • RAF reporting

  • HCC metrics and performance indicators, Coding and compliance.

  • Patient outreach and reporting.

  • Physician and team performance, Group support and analytics.

  • Capitation reconciliation and metrics.

  • Quality metrics and performance (P4P, Stars, HEDIS).

  • Financial performance and analysis.

  • Organizes and documents all phases of existing and new projects, while closely collaborating with internal and external resources.

  • Helps document workflows for:

  • Software management and ongoing database development.

  • Analytics and performance reporting.

  • Cross-departmental projects and initiatives, as well as processes set by management.

  • Participates in workshops, meetings and seminars to gain knowledge and expertise to perform functions better.

  • Able to travel to all regional sites in a consistent, timely and efficient manner; holds effective meetings and leads workgroups, assigns and takes over deliverables, reports to and coordinates with the regional director and manager on the priorities and workload management; strives to exceed expectations.

  • Broad project management support for all California medical groups and the foundations.

  • Develops and fosters productive and professional business partnerships throughout the organization.

  • Works on multiple project teams simultaneously, applying project management techniques and process improvement techniques to improve efficiency, accountability, and reach goals.

  • Works collaboratively with all levels of staff in achieving desired outcomes.

  • Promotes a team environment and provides work direction and guidance, including professional development and training.

  • Demonstrates the ability to make decisions, take appropriate action and follow tasks through to completion.

  • Recognizes and analyzes the implications of new situations and develop workable solutions.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to personal growth and development by participating in external activities related to professional goals.

  • Responds cooperatively to managers and staff members in other departments to promote teamwork; works at maintaining a good rapport with staff and physician offices.

  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 3 years of Project Management Experience in related Healthcare Field

  • Significant experience working at a strategic level in a mid to large size organization, preferably with physicians.

  • Knowledge of business planning processes and tools, forecasting, scenario building techniques, knowledge of lean design principles and their implementation is required.

  • Healthcare coding general knowledge is a plus.

  • Superior organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in support of enterprise-wide strategic initiatives and goals while delivering quality service.

  • Creative problem identification, conceptualization, and contingency thinking skills are required.

  • The ability to work well with individuals from a variety of disciplines with diverse levels of knowledge.

  • Must exhibit strong process orientation, efficiency, collaboration, candor, and be results-oriented.

  • Strong computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, Project, MapPoint, Adobe.

  • Effective presentation skills, strong critical thinking and analytical skills.

  • Proactive commitment to advancing healthcare outcomes with a patient-first approach.

  • Clear, well-developed oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to manage accelerated work pace with multiple deliverables.

  • Ability to recognize and generate new or modified approaches that are results-oriented.
