Providence is calling a Pharmacy Technician Certified (Full-Time/Day Shift) to the Providence Facey Medical Foundation in Mission Hills, CA.

We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician Certified , who will be responsible for the review and transmission of pharmacy medication scripts following the established Facey Medication Protocol Program. Submits prescription refills via an electronic task for immediate approval to the pharmacy for medications predefined in the guidelines and protocols established by the medical group. Makes appointments for patients as required by the Facey Medication Protocol Program. Provide education, training and guidance to Prescription Refill Clerks and Clinical Practitioners. Provides excellent customer service to patients, pharmacy personnel and Facey clinical staff and providers.

In this position you will:

  • Deliver upon the service expectations of both our patients and fellow staff members by listening to their needs; engaging in positive interactions; and following through on promises made in a thoughtful, efficient, timely and courteous manner so that their total outcome is better than expected

  • Respect the dignity, confidentiality and privacy of patients

  • Work in a safe manner, adhering to general safety precautions and standards. Reports any unsafe conditions to their supervisor and/or the safety hotline

  • Use phone, fax, ecopy and email in a professional manner

  • Knowledge of procedures and protocols for review, submission and follow up of Pre-Authorizations and medication refill tasks

  • Follow pre-defined clinical drug renewal protocols by drug classification

  • Perform an electronic chart review to determine approval and/or denial of medication refills per protocols

  • Schedule patient appointments based on medication protocol guidelines

  • Ability to analyze metrics and statistical data to perform Quality Assurance for the Pharmacy Technician Protocol Program

  • Act as a liaison with nursing and medical staff concerning prescriptions, errors and complaints

  • Attend meetings as required and participates in committees

  • Maintain required certification by participating in educational programs, current literature and professional organizations

  • Participate in continuous quality improvement, identifying problems, suggesting alternatives, and evaluating solutions

  • Able to work overtime, nights and weekends, as needed

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Successful completion of an approved pharmacy technician program

  • Pharmacy Technician license required by the Board of Pharmacy

  • Possess basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs i.e. Word, Excel and Power Point applications

  • Able to use e-mail, fax, phone and e-copy

  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, ability to work independently and as a member of a team with users, management, physicians and staff, strong planning and organizational skills, ability to trouble shoot, excellent customer service, ability to be a critical thinker and bring creativity, detail oriented, reliable and a self-starter

  • Able to type 35-45 wpm

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • One (1) year retail pharmacy experience
