We are seeking a Manager Environmental Services who will manage the housekeeping department; establishes policies, procedures, objectives, and work standards. Maintains quality control and compliance with regulatory requirements.
In this position you will:
Develop goals and objectives, and establishes and implements policies and procedures for quality improvement.
Consult with and advises the Director of problems related to the operation of the hospital/department; recommends changes in administrative policies to carry out objectives more effectively.
Select, train/orient and assign department staff. Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions. Maintains effective communication with assigned float staff through staff meetings and other means of communication.
Develop and recommend department operating budget and ensures that department operates within budget.
Manage the Linen Services vendor contract to establish, monitor and ensure department par levels are maintained with quality linen. Manages linen distribution to the hospital units/departments in a timely and appropriate manner. Ensures linen carts and covers are maintained in good condition and meets all regulatory requirements. Coordinates pickup of soiled linen and delivery of clean linen by vendor.
Direct the preparation and maintenance of department reports. Prepares periodic reports for top management, as required.
Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate and supervise functions and activities of the housekeeping department to maintain the hospital environment in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition and comply with regulatory requirements.
Schedule and supervise housekeeping functions and activities so as not to interrupt or interfere with patient care activities.
Provide essential equipment and supplies and ensures that cleaning agents/housekeeping chemicals meet required standards to effect maximum cleanliness and sanitation.
Investigate and evaluate new housekeeping supplies and equipment and makes recommendations to administration.
Inspect and evaluate the hospital's physical condition. Makes recommendations concerning painting, repairs, furnishings and furniture, relocation of equipment, and allocation of space to improve sanitation, appearances, and efficiency.
Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
Participate in hospital/medical staff committee meetings as required. Attends and serves on professional/civic service organizations as hospital representative, and conducts/attends departmental meetings.
Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. Stays current with JCAHO/DHS standards, management and healthcare issues and trends.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Courses in housekeeping or institutional management.
Sufficient admin/supervisory experience in a hospital or similar institution.
Proven managerial skills.
Computation and record keeping ability.
