We are seeking a Manager Clinical Nutrition Services who will plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate the daily operations of patient / resident nutrition care services. Direct daily operations of both clinical nutrition and patient food service operations; establish and execute operating standards; implement quality improvements; and manage the budget and department objectives. Stay current with most nutrition-related trends, research, policies and/or procedures, certifications and standards of practice. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This position takes responsibility of the Food and Nutrition Services Department in the absence of the Director.
In this position you will:
Coordinate the activities of the trayline, diet office and dietitians (clinical nutrition staff) ensuring that unit goals and objectives are attained and that procedures and policies are enforced. Review and evaluate existing operational methods and procedures for effectiveness and efficiency, initiating changes as necessary to ensure compliance with federal, state, county and hospital regulations. Collaborate to refine and develop new programs, processes, and practices to achieve high standards and best practices to meet the vision, standard, budget and goals of the organization
Lead the development, evaluation and implementation of all aspects of patient dining services. Ensure service, and delivery of patient meals is accurate and meets the therapeutic dietary needs of patients, while considering such factors as variety, availability, client preferences, nutritional and caloric content, and food cost
Manage to ensure quality in customer-oriented environment; monitors, coaches and mentors dietitians, diet technicians, supervisors, trayline caregivers and diet assistants to meet high levels of performance and accountability
Establish effective relationships with medical staff, nursing and other patient care services; attend staff conferences and transmit information to your staff regarding new developments and trends
Monitor service and staff performance in relation to customer service standards, policies and procedures. Ensure that staff is scheduled to meet the work load and that attendance policies are followed
Actively create an environment of safety and functions with a constant awareness of safety issues that have been identified, including correcting and reporting any unsafe conditions. Monitor and maintains a safe and sanitary environment for both patients and caregivers
Establish daily routine for patient visitation and follow-up to ensure appropriate nutrition intervention
Assist in the evaluation and review of new developments in food packaging and processing, new and modified equipment, and new nutritional concepts; help to select those with merit for possible incorporation into the food service program
Evaluate staff for performance and competencies in a timely manner and makes decisions regarding hiring/firing and personnel actions
Maintain established department goals and objectives, improving organization performance, and patient/customer safety standards. Manage and achieves financial and operational budgetary goals and guidelines, benchmarks, productivity targets and patient satisfaction goals for area of responsibility
Monitor patients/guests/nursing satisfaction for food quality, temperature, presentation, and service to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction are achieved and maintained. Address areas of concerns, develop, and implement plans to improve outcomes. Complete any investigations of unusual occurrence reports, address concerns and resolve problems by communicating and implementing practice changes and/or addressing performance issues
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition Science or Dietetics
Current Registered Dietitian
Food Protection Manager Certification within 90 Days
Fire and Life Safety within 90 Days
3 years experience as a clinical dietitian in an acute healthcare setting
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, such as Joint Commission and DHS regulations pertaining to clinical nutrition and food services
Financial management skills; such as strong mathematic knowledge in order to evaluate, and analyze financial data, operational, performance, budget and productivity reports. Able to make sound financial business decisions and adjustments in practice to achieve goals and objectives
Excellent professional communication and interpersonal relationships skills in order to lead, coach, mentor, motivate, empower and give and/or follow instructions and directions
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, think quickly and respond to crisis situations, and proactively resolve issues and concerns.
Requires knowledge of using computers and standard office software applications. Broad knowledge of menu management systems and electronic health records
Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation procedures, and safety practices.
Ability to clearly convey goals, expectations, and objectives to supervisors and caregivers, while allowing in collaboration/participation of decision making
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
1 year management or supervisory experience
