Providence is calling a Cook (Full Time/Variable Shift) to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, CA.
We are seeking a Cook who will prepare, season and cook food for hospital patients, employees and visitors.
In this position you will:
Implement and maintain established department, unit, and hospital policies, procedures, and objectives as well as improve organization performance program, patient/customer safety, environmental, and infection control policies
Preview menus and work orders to determine type and quantities of meats, vegetables, soups, salads and desserts to be obtained and prepared
Plan and coordinate cooking schedules so that foods will be ready at required times Confer with manager/supervisor regarding preparation and use of leftovers
Prepare, season and cook food
Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes
Use a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment including grinders, slices, mixers and blenders
Ensure all foods prepared meet existing standards for quality, freshness, taste and appearance
Ensure that all cooking equipment and utensils are inspected and maintained for cleanliness and proper operation
Ensure required sanitary levels are maintained throughout the food preparation process
Alert supervisor to problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies Detect and report spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment or other unusual conditions
Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies
Maintain accurate service records and reports; record amounts and leftover after each meal service
Clean assigned areas following established cleaning procedures and schedules
Participate in educational programs and in-service meetings
Attend meetings as required
May be required to drive company vehicle to deliver meals to patients. (PHC employees only)
Required qualifications for this position include:
Training in institutional food preparation
One (1) year cooking experience in large scale or institutional food service
Knowledge of cooking methods/procedures, including types of preparation and related routines
CA Driver License (required for certain employees that drive company vehicles at PHC)
