We are seeking a Charge Nurse (RN) - Sub Acute who will be responsible for organizing, and directing the delivery of patient care and is a member of the unit leadership team. The Charge Nurse promotes and enforces the interdisciplinary plan of care, procedures, policies, practices, ethics and standards of the facility. The Charge Nurse establishes and maintains positive interpersonal relationships between multidisciplinary team members that include the staff, physicians, patients and their family members.

  • Easily accessible and approachable to customers and staff.

  • Validate concerns expressed by customers, staff and advocates on their behalf.

  • Communicate progress on previously identified concerns in a timely manner.

  • Proactively assess the needs of complex customer concern.

  • Consult healthcare team members about the development and implementation of meaningful and caring interventions for customers and staff.

  • Professionalism: Models professional responsibility and growth.

  • Consistently adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care, including personnel and clinical policies.

  • Interpret supports and reinforces policies, procedures and standards of care.

  • Assume responsibility for professional growth by seeking educational opportunities.

  • Use available information technology resources through Providence online systems and library for current information.

  • Encourage professional growth of others.

  • Identify competency deficits/learning needs of staff in collaboration with the clinical educators, managers, and director. Consults internal experts as needed.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to customers, medical staff and employees.

  • Problem Solving: Take a proactive role in problem solving.

  • Act as a role model and demonstrates expertise in conflict resolution.

  • Support customer’s rights and their safety.

  • Communicate problems and actions by using the chain of command.

  • Prioritize based on clinical needs, delegates to appropriate staff.

  • Seek assistance from security personnel, managers and uses safety codes in dangerous situations.

  • Take responsibility for difficult and unpopular decisions.

  • Quality Practice: Practice, coordinate and facilitate quality care.

  • Maintain clinical expertise in the diverse population served.

  • Maintain a safe environment for customers, staff and visitors by adhering to regulatory standards, manufacturing recommendations and hospital policy and procedures.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate timely coordinated care.

  • Oversee the delivery of care, assists with priority setting and clinical assessment as needed.

  • Support quality improvement initiatives.

  • Demonstrate fiscal accountability by appropriate use of staff, supplies and equipment.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Current California Licensed Registered Nurse.

  • Current BLS-HCP Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers - American Heart Association (AHA), or American Red Cross (ARC) - CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer accepted on hire until card expiration date.

  • Two (2) years acute care experience.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Working toward BSN.

  • National Board Certification in clinical specialty area of practice.
