We are seeking a Cardiac Electrophysiology Radiology Technologist in Cardiac Physiology Laboratory who will perform radiographic and technical assistance in both diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedure
In this position you will:
Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, improving organization performance program, infection control, and safety standards.
Perform radiographic examinations for both cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures.
Scrub and assist medical staff with the performance of both diagnostic and interventional procedures for cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures.
Assist physician with insertion of Pacemaker, ICD, Biventricular ICD and Loop recorders if applicable.
Assist physician with setup and procedure for all Electrophysiology Studies if applicable.
Perform scrub function simultaneously with X-ray tube positioning and film exposure.
Assist with intra-aortic balloon insertion and intra aortic balloon pump set-up and function.
Assist with IVUS and Flow Wire set up and insertion.
Perform manual compression following procedure, monitors for bleeding, and takes corrective measures as needed for bleed or hematoma. Deploys closure devices under the direction of the physician.
Monitor acute and non-acute patients for arrhythmia disturbance, --hymodynamic monitoring for diagnostic angiograms, PCI, EP and all other procedures (i.e., pacemaker, ICD AND BI-ICD) if applicable. Evaluates arterial, venous, and valve waveforms for abnormal findings before, during, and post procedure.•
Assist with airway and cardiac resuscitative efforts.
Collaborate with vendors to assure updated consignment inventory. Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis for sterility and prevent equipment expiration consistent with JCAHO requirements. Maintains consignment par levels through monitoring and reordering of supplies on a daily basis.
Maintain X-ray and other equipment (i.e., Cardionow, IVUS and Flow wire, if applicable) in efficient operating order. Contacts outside service for malfunctions and regularly scheduled preventative maintenance.
Perform and maintain State mandated log of radiation fluoroscopy levels.
Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Provide patient education prior to catheterization to explain procedure and answer questions; explains steps during the actual procedure.
Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of work areas.
Maintain a log of procedures completed, inventories cine film and CD’S both on and off site.
Chart observations according to hospital policy and procedure.
Anticipate procedural requirements, open sterile supplies and sets up for procedures.
Drape patients for surgical procedures, establish pressure, flush, and contrast lines per policy.
Position and transfer patients comfortably in and out of bed. Helps pick up and transport patient to their respective units.
Assure appropriate use of radiation badges for both staff and physicians. Reports high badge readings to appropriate personnel. Maintains a report according to hospital policies.
The following job accountabilities may be reassigned:
Clean and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning. Monitors and restocks room supplies.
Completion of a program in Radiologic Technology.
Intra-Aortic Balloon insertion.
IVUS insertion.Flow wire insertion.
BLS for Healthcare Providers sponsored by the American Heart Association.
If employee/applicant has certification by the American Red Cross-CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, this will be accepted until card expiration date.
Cardiac Radiologic Technologist (CRT).
ACLS. New Grad RT has up to 365 days from date of hire to obtain certification
